Art Dubai places education at the heart of the fair: our programmes include artists’ projects for children (such as our 2012 commission with Yto Barrada and Zid Zid Kids); monthly seminars for students and graduates in the UAE; a collaboration with local universities, colleges, galleries and other institutions, plus a range of opportunities to gain experience with the fair, from three-month internships to volunteering at Art Dubai itself. Since the fair's debut in 2007, over 300 students and graduates from 40 nationalities and 18 educational institutions have participated in the scheme.
New in 2013 is Campus Art Dubai, an intensive set of six-month courses for artists, writers and curators, led by international and regional tutors, designed to bridge the gap between formal education and professional practice.
Our educational programming also includes the (free-entrance) Global Art Forum, the leading platform for debate in the MENASA region, which in 2012 included over 50 contributors, involved in six days of discussion, plus a range of commissioned projects, research and publications.
All these events are open to all, and we very much welcome your involvement: if based in the UAE, please do join our monthly seminars, and during Art Dubai, make note of the talks programmes.
If you’d like to be involved in internships or to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
