Bortolami is a contemporary art gallery in New York City that was founded in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood in 2005 and currently represents twenty-nine artists and estates. The gallery has had longstanding relationships with and fostered the careers of numerous acclaimed international artists, and has presented over 140 groundbreaking exhibitions across a variety of media and genres over the past nineteen years.
Bortolami’s program expanded in 2016 with the launch of the Artist / City initiative, which brings year-long exhibitions to cities across the United States. These projects include Daniel Buren/Miami (2015-2016), Eric Wesley/St. Louis (2016-2017), Tom Burr/New Haven (2017), Jutta Koether/Philadelphia (2018), Ann Veronica Janssens/Baltimore (2018), Barbara Kasten/Chicago (2018-2019), Paul Pfeiffer/Washington, D.C. (2019-2020), Cecily Brown/Buffalo (2021), and Koichi Sato, Susumu Kamijo, Jonas Wood/Las Vegas (2022-2023).
In 2017, Bortolami relocated to the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, where it currently occupies two exhibition spaces at 39 Walker Street totaling 6,200 square feet. In 2019, Bortolami opened a second exhibition space, 55 Walker, a collaborative venture with Andrew Kreps Gallery and Kaufmann Repetto.
