Istanbul, Turkey
Celebrating its 22nd year in 2024, Dirimart is more committed than ever to challenging and revitalising the gallery model in Istanbul. Founded in 2002 by Hazer Özil, the gallery was established with the goal of presenting both established and emerging artists from Turkey and around the world in a context that encourages critical dialogue and cross-pollination. The core focus of Dirimart’s programme is to highlight individual and regional differences while fostering cosmopolitanism and collaboration.
The gallery’s programme is grounded in conceptualism, political resistance, and intellectual rigour. With two locations in Beyoğlu—Dolapdere and Pera—Dirimart balances its programme between well-established artists such as Ayşe Erkmen, İnci Eviner, Canan Tolon, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Sarah Morris, Anselm Reyle, Jorinde Voigt, Tomokazu Matsuyama, and Karin Kneffel, and emerging talents including Çiğdem Aky, Çağla Ulusoy, Berke Yazıcıoğlu, and Ebru Duruman.
In addition to its exhibition programme, Dirimart, through its publishing arm RES Publications (established in 2007), continues to produce a distinguished series of catalogues, artist books, and publications on art theory.
