Founded by Jacques Dupin, Daniel Lelong and Jean Frémon in Paris in 1981, the gallery has exhibited Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Francis Bacon, Louise Bourgeois, but also artists of the next generation such as Donald Judd, Richard Serra and Jannis Kounellis in the 1980s before starting to work with contemporary artists such as Sean Scully, Günther Förg, Andy Goldsworthy in the 90s. With the turn of the century the gallery programme diversified geographically and in media adding artists such as Jaume Plensa, Kiki Smith, Rebecca Horn, Barthélémy Toguo, Lin Tianmiao, David Hockney, Nalini Malani to their roster. Galerie Lelong has a second gallery in New York.
