Galerie Dorothea van der Koelen, founded in 1979, is one of the leading German galleries showcasing contemporary art. The gallery has contributed to several establishments including its first publishing house in 1986, second gallery in 1989 in Mainz, Germany, second publishing house in 1995 and third gallery in 2001 in Venice, van der Koelen Foundation for arts and sciences in 2003 and CADORO – Centre for Arts and Science in 2014. In 2015, Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen was awarded the Max-Slevogt medal. Since 1981, the gallery has participated in more than 200 international art fairs. Since 1985, Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen, owner and director of the gallery, has curated more than 550 international exhibitions and public projects worldwide.
