Established in 1989 by Renu Modi, Gallery Espace is one of the leading art spaces in New Delhi, renowned for fostering contemporary Indian art through ambitious programming. It has hosted a range of significant exhibitions like ‘Drawing ’94’, ‘Sculpture ’95’, ‘Miniprint ’96’, ‘Bronze’ (2006), and ‘Video Wednesdays’ (2008-09 & 2011-12), which have generated commercial and critical interest in previously overlooked art forms. Gallery Espace have also pioneered cross-disciplinary exhibition practices with shows such as ‘The Self & The World’ (1997), ‘Kitsch Kitsch Hota Hai’ (2001), and ‘Lo Real Maravilloso’ (2009).

The gallery collaborate with multiple generations of Indian artists, such as modernist icon MF Husain, while also showcasing emerging talent and experimental practices. Its diverse aesthetic is represented by artists like Zarina, Nilima Sheikh, Manjunath Kamath, GR Iranna, Ravi Agarwal, Manisha Gera Baswani, Chitra Ganesh, Waswo X Waswo, along with rising stars, Ishita Chakraborty and Purvai Rai, whose works capture evolving themes and tastes.
