Green Art Gallery, active in the Middle East for nearly four decades, has witnessed significant transformations in the regional art scene. Initially established as Ornina in 1987 above a small bookstore in Homs, Syria, it served as a vital meeting place for intellectuals and artists. In 1995, the gallery opened in Dubai as a salon dedicated to Arab Modernism, showcasing artists who would later become modern Arab masters, such as Fateh Moudarres and Dia Azzawi.
Re-launched in 2010 as a contemporary art space, Green Art Gallery features a diverse range of artists whose practices reflect current themes. It represents a multi-generational mix from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, including artists like Hale Tenger, Kamrooz Aram, and Shadi Habib Allah. This geographic diversity underscores Dubai’s cosmopolitan nature while maintaining a robust Arab Modernist program.
Since 2012, the gallery has expanded its reach through collaborations with external artists and curators, affirming its commitment to documenting and supporting regional artistic production. It has also developed a publishing program to enhance its critical discourse
