Founded in 1996, Galerie Atiss Dakar opened with its first exhibition of Soly Cisse, today an internationally well known artist, along the DAKART Biennale.
The gallery developed collaboration with Gallery Chab from Mali through a participation in ARCO Fair in Madrid and also an adventurous project of driving through West Africa and organizing exhibitions in various country in the hopes of developing the activity of a private gallery.
Atiss Dakar also engaged in a joint venture with Gallery MAM from Cameroon in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2015 and recently ART PARIS ART FAIR 2017 and ART X LAGOS.
The gallery has become well known OFF space during the Dakar Biennial of Senegal.
