Saskia Fernando Gallery was established in February 2009 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The gallery pioneered the professionalization of the local contemporary art scene that, despite it’s rich history, has been strongly constricted by the countries civil war. Since inception the gallery has presented exhibitions in London, Singapore and Dubai while collaborating with curators on institutional exhibitions in Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Norway and Germany. The gallery expanded in December 2013 and now stands as the largest contemporary art gallery in the island, housing two exhibition spaces and representing the foremost contemporary artists from Sri Lanka.
