Vigo was founded in 2011 and represents both emerging and established international artists, curating exhibitions in public and private spaces, as well as placing historic and contemporary works into the collections of prominent museums and foundations. They have placed nearly two hundred works in institutions, including Tate Modern, The British Museum, MoMA, The Ashmolean Museum, Sharjah Art Foundation, The Arts Council, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and The Metropolitan Museum. Exhibitions have been organised with institutions such as Somerset House, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, San Francisco City Hall, The Prince Claus Foundation, City of Prague Gallery, Hastings Contemporary, Smithson Plaza, The Drawing Centre NY, Kunsthalle Zurich, Tegnerforbundet, and Wellington Arch. Ibrahim El-Salahi participated in the 2022 Venice Biennale with 99 works and will again participate in 2024.
In addition to their contemporary focus and primary programme, the gallery highlights historically significant yet undervalued artists with strong museum and curatorial followings. They have developed a long-term interest in the African diaspora and African American artists; however, their programme is international in scope and includes artists and estates from Belgium, America, Australia, and Japan. Represented artists include Ibrahim El-Salahi, Lakwena Maciver, Jordy Kerwick, Henrik Godsk, and Johnny Abrahams.
